Skyline Chili Near Marco Island Florida Now Closed

Following the permanent restaurant closures in nearby Naples, This one Hits Home at Our House

A taste of home for countless Midwest transplants has vanished from Southwest Florida.  The region’s last remaining Skyline Chili locations, including the longtime outpost in Naples, have permanently closed their doors, ending a nearly four-decade run.

The abrupt shutdown marks a nostalgic and sad end for a local institution.

For 38 years, the family-operated franchises in Naples and Fort Myers served as a cherished link to Ohio and Kentucky, offering signature cheese coneys and spaghetti “Ways.”

The Naples restaurant, operated by resident Gates Rodenfels, was a fixture in the Lake Park neighborhood for decades.

Its closure is part of a larger redevelopment story.

The retail center that housed the restaurant was sold years ago and is slated to become a luxury automobile dealership.  While the owner had once hoped to relocate, those plans never came to fruition, reflecting a challenging local real estate market.

This closing adds to a growing list of restaurant closures Naples Florida has seen recently, as the area’s dining landscape continues to evolve.

The loss of Skyline Chili is deeply felt by those who found comfort in its familiar flavors.  Fans will now have to travel to other parts of Florida, like Lakewood Ranch, to get their fix.
