Marco Island Airport Unveils Major Expansion & New Aircraft Hangar |
The $3.5 million facility at Marco Island Executive Airport addresses critical storage needs and is set to bolster the island's economic future and appeal to private aviators. |
A significant upgrade is taking flight on Marco Island, promising a major boost for local and visiting aviators. The Marco Island Executive Airport is officially cutting the ribbon on a brand-new, 12,000-square-foot bulk aircraft hangar this week.
Located at 2005 Mainsail Drive, the impressive facility represents a $3.5 million investment into the island's critical infrastructure and tourism appeal. Funding for the project was a collaborative effort, supported by grants from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Florida Department of Transportation.
This is more than just a building; it's a desperately needed solution to a long-standing problem.
During the busy season, it's common to see between 60 and 70 private aircraft parked in open areas, completely exposed to the harsh Florida elements.
The new bulk hangar provides a secure, protected space for these valuable general aviation assets.
Officials in Collier County believe the expansion will dramatically enhance the airport's financial sustainability for years to come. By generating additional revenue from aircraft storage, the hangar is a key part of the airport’s long-term strategy for growth in Southwest Florida.
It's a savvy move that strengthens Marco Island's reputation as a premier destination. |
